Virtually every parent wants their child to play some type of musical instrument – or maybe that’s just me. I started playing the piano when I was in kindergarten, and while I’d love to think my daughter inherited something positive from me, we’re currently almost four years in and I fear that she may have taken after my husband’s lack of musical prowess instead. That said, my best friend attempted to tip the scales in our favor by getting my daughter the B. Toys Parum Pum Pum music set when she was about a year old.

B. Toys Parum Pum Pum Music Set – The Pros:

  • This set is pretty straightforward – it’s clear what purpose each instrument serves.
  • It’s colorful, so it’s attractive to little ones.
  • It seems well-made – we’ve had it for three years now and it’s held up extremely well, with no signs of wear – even the strap is still attached and in good shape.
  • The set evolves with your child – when my daughter was a baby, she liked to watch me shake the pieces; now that she’s nearly four, she actually uses it to make her own music.
  • Everything fits comfortably into the self-contained drum when you’re finished playing with it.

B. Toys Parum Pum Pum Music Set – The Cons:

  • The age recommendation is accurate (18m) – we started using ours too young, so the pieces were a little heavy for my daughter – this was our fault, though.

In Closing:

Just like most other products from B. Toys, the Parum Pum Pum Music Set is both durable and cute. That durability is critical for the little ones, while the cute factor is helpful for us parents because it doesn’t create a total eye sore on the playroom floor. It also looks more expensive than it is, which is definitely a plus if you’re considering buying this for someone else.
